IONIQ 9 SUV Set to Debut in June

In 2021, Hyundai unveiled their concept car for “SEVEN”, the SUV model in the IONIQ family of EVs. Take a look at the original concept car, sporting a single curvature roof.

The IONIQ 9 (yes, despite the original “seven” concept, Hyundai plans to use the IONIQ 9 name for this three-row SUV, perhaps reserving 7 and 8 for other IONIQ variations 👀 ) is anticipated to debut at the 2024 Busan Motor Show in Korea, according to The Korean Car Blog. In the meantime, let’s sneak a peek at this three-row electric SUV, camouflaged and cruising the Korean highways.

Despite the excessive covering and attempt to hide, Hyundai couldn’t hide that roof anywhere! Lucky for us, some people were able to get a closer look and glimpse at the interior.

Check out the video below; you’ll see a rectangular screen that stretches behind the steering wheel to the center of the dash, presumably for the infotainment system and instrument cluster.

Manufacturing and sales are anticipated to kick off in 2025 at Hyundai’s Metaplant in Georgia, bringing manufacturing to the U.S. and making the IONIQ 9 eligible for U.S. EV tax credits.

IONIQ 6: Car of the Year…again 🏆️ Plus Top Safety Pick awards for Hyundai Motor Group

Are we surprised? The Hyundai IONIQ 6 has received another award, this time CleanTechnica’s 2023 Car Of The Year. The IONIQ 6 not only won but swept the award with 81% of the vote. 🧹

This isn’t the first time the IONIQ 6 has been recognized as a leader among EVs. In fact, this might be the 11th award for the Hyundai favorite. Recognitions include:

With accolades like these, it’s no wonder the Hyundai Motor Group earned TOP SAFETY PICK+ and TOP SAFETY PICK awards from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. That makes Hyundai Motor Group the leader of the industry with 10 TSP+ and 6 TSP awards: the most combined in the industry.

Hyundai Top Safety Pick Plus winners include the Kona, and the IONIQ 6 (shocker). Hyundai Top Safety Pick winners include the Elantra, IONIQ 5, Tucson, Palisade, and Santa Cruz.

“The changes made to our vehicles to win these tougher awards offer the highest level of protection for our customers and other vulnerable road users. Safety is a top priority for our company and the commitment to our customers is evidenced by these recent accolades.”

Brian Latouf, President and Global Chief Safety and Quality Officer at Hyundai Motor Group

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson

The 2025 European Hyundai Tucson was recently unveiled, meaning the 2025 U.S. Tucson is underway. Let’s look at what our friends across the pond have cooked up, and what we may have to look forward to in the future.

With stretched bumpers, and new grille and wheel design, the body of the 2025 Tucson is wider and more refined. Do you consider this an upgrade to the current model? Reply to this email and let us know.

The interior is where we see the most noticeable upgrades, including hidden HVAC vents beneath a parcel shelf, and two 12.3 inch screens.

There’s also new volume and tuning knobs, a new steering wheel, and a push-button shifter located on the steering column.
