Hyundai and Sony Studios Unite Forces in a Web of Collaboration for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Hyundai Motors and Sony Pictures have had another development in their partnership this time having Miles Morales the star of the new Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie, follow an IONIQ 6 across the city of Brooklyn and try and figure out what song is being played inside of the vehicle. This is the latest commercial to come out of Hyundai and Sony partnership with the last one starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted Movie which was released last year.

Speed Up, Speed Up, Speed Up!

In this commercial, a flying futuristic IONIQ vehicle can be seen in the background, which we know from a promotional image that was released earlier in the month will actually be featured in the movie. You will be able to see it when Miles travels into the future of 2099, among a horde of Futuristic Hyundai Vehicles that will show where Hyundai wants to take the future of their brand.

Ready…Set…Go!

If you look closely at the trailer as well you will be able to notice an IONIQ 5 as Miles is running through the city. This trailer helps to introduce the feeling of the past present and future of Hyundai’s electric lineup and all the potential it has to grow in the future. While we may not be any closer to the Jetsons than we were decades ago, the sleek designs of these futuristic Hyundai can still help your imagination to soar to new heights. You can see all the futuristic Hyundai designs for yourself in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, premiering on June 2, 2023.

I spy something blurry…

Hyundai Motor America had a big win at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca 120 in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC). Mark Wilkins and Mason Filippi, driving the No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR for Bryan Herta Autosport, emerged as the winners after fierce competition with their BHA teammates. The No. 98 car secured the lead after pit stops at the halfway point of the two-hour race. With this win, Wilkins and Filippi now lead the IMPC Drivers' Championship standings.

The triumph held special significance as it took place at Hyundai's home race at Laguna Seca. The drivers expressed their excitement and gratitude for the support received from Hyundai and its fans. Other Hyundai drivers, Tyler Maxson and Bryan Ortiz of van der Steur Racing, secured a top-five finish, while Taylor Hagler and Michael Lewis, the reigning 2022 IMPC Drivers' Champions, finished in sixth place. Deily Motorsports' Jacob Deily and Cabot Bigham claimed ninth place, and Jordan Wiseley and James Vance, newcomers to the Hyundai Elantra N TCR racing family, narrowly missed the top 10, finishing in 11th place. The BHA drivers now shift their focus to the ADAC TotalEnergies 24H Nürburgring endurance event in Germany.

I Heard a Rumor, Will Hyundai Have the Right Vision?

There was a rumor going around that the N Vision 74 concept car has been greenlit for production. When this car first debuted last year in July for Hyundai’s “N Day” it instantly became a hit amongst car enthusiasts and casual viewers. On May 8th, we heard some rumors from a Korean news outlet that Hyundai would greenlight the production of this car but sadly our hopes and speculation were misguided. Hyundai has denied its debut for the production of the N74, and that there is no pony day event planned at this time.

I feel the need…

Hyundai’s Vice President, Till Wartenberg recently commented to the Autopian expressing his hopes for the car to be put into production. The main reason it seems this car isn’t coming to the enthusiast market though is because of the hydrogen fuel tanks that power the vehicle along with the difficulty of procuring the fuel for the consumer. This type of fuel is explosive in speed but also in other areas making it difficult to keep safe in certain situations. Hyundai seems to be keeping any vehicle that would cost more than 150k off the market, like the canceled RM19 project that would have cost just that. The N74 concept will set a high bar for other automakers to step 👏 up 👏 their 👏 game 👏 with a design that nods to vintage models but with a futuristic twist.

The need for Speed!

The concepts for the original pony line were inspiration for the 45 concept which ended up becoming the Hyundai IONIQ line, so there is still hope. Hyundai can take the N Vision 74 concept and bring something similar into production, meaning that even though we will never see this concept mass-produced we may get a vehicle similar to it. With all of the hype surrounding this vehicle, Hyundai decided to release a short documentary about the humble beginnings of the Pony car line which you can find here.

A Calendar with the 15th day of the month on it

The boxy, RWD, Hyundai PONY Coupe concept car was originally introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1974. It was released as a 4-door sedan in 1975. Later body styles included a coupe utility “pickup,” commonly referred to as a car-truck, as well as a station wagon and several “liftback” versions.

It was produced from 1975-1990 and was the Korean automaker’s first mass-produced and exported car. The PONY nameplate was used up until 2000 in some markets on Hyundai Excel and Accent models.

Did you know?

The Hyundai N Vision 74 Concept Car has been compared to the DeLorean DMC 12, made popular by Back To The Future, but, it was actually the Hyundai PONY Coupe that inspired the design of the DeLorean DMC 12.
